Bicycle Tour 2025

From Munich via Claudia to Engadin

The journey begins in Munich following the Ammersee-Radweg until Landsberg am Lech. Then we follow the famous Via Claudia Augusta South along the river Lech until Reutte in Tirol. Then we switch over to a different valley and follow the river Loisach, still on the via Claudia. Now the Fern Pass (~ 1220m) needs to be mastered. After that, the route goes downhill to the river Inn. Then we follow the river going steady upwards until Martina, which is the border to Switzerland. Via Claudia would now leave via Reschenpass to South Tirol. But we continue to follow the river Inn to Engadin through Scuol, Zernez until La Punt Chamues-ch. La Punt would have been the starting point for the Albula Pass, but this is for another time. The way from Martina to La Punt is by the way the Graubünden Route 6.

Since I had to have my brakes repaired, I took the bus from Pfunds to Landeck, which explains the straight line. Therefore I rode the part Landeck-Pfunds twice. Due to bad weather, I took a rest day in Zernez.

Zernez is the gateway to the Swiss National Park, which was founded in 1914. There is a nice museum about the national park, which is worth a visit.

Summary

  • 6 days on the bike
  • 1 rest day due to bad weather
  • 1 bike repair (the brakes…)
  • in total ~ 450km
  • between 500hm and 1000hm per day
